Unfortunately, not all towns and cities offer Down Payment Assistance Programs.
As a mortgage broker, we always have clients coming to us who struggle to come up with a down payment for a new home. With housing prices increasing and the cost of everything going up as well and our wages and salaries sadly not keeping pace, it is becoming increasingly more and more difficult to save for a down payment. Not everyone has family members who are in the position to gift them a down payment and the challenge is well, challenging.

For those of you who struggle to save up enough for a down payment but have excellent credit and little to no debt, there are down payment assistance programs throughout the province of Ontario that offer just that; down payment assistance to those who qualify.
Every town and municipality is different (some offer it and some do not) and the amounts also vary so you need to check with the town/municipality where you live. Here in Brantford, it is called the Bhome program. http://www.bhome.ca This is a great program and can put you in your own home so you can finally stop paying rent.
